Screened Topsoil / Organic Garden Mix / Better Earth Compost

Screened Dry Pulverized Topsoil (Stored Inside)

Retail $40.00 / Ton

Our 40′ x 60′ building holds close to 200 tons of screened topsoil in bay #2. This allows us to sell between 850 – 1000 tons per year. Because no matter what the weather is outside we’ll have dry topsoil waiting for you when you’re ready. Yes, that means right after it’s done raining we can serve you. (No waiting 3-4 days to load you because it’s too wet)

Our screened topsoil is a rich farm soil that allows plants roots to penetrate freely and is easy to work with (unlike river bottom soils that are heavy and not good for root establishment). Our topsoil is also very clean, without much weed seeds.

We run our topsoil through a 1/4″ screener mesh. This allows nothing bigger than a 1/4″ clod, saving you money on your soil, since you will virtually have 0% waste.

We’ve had customers comment that in the past, they have bought cheaper soil elsewhere, but it ended up costing them more due to 15% – 20% waste they had left over in the dirt clods. Other customers have said they can spread and level out our soil by hand 3 times faster since they have no large clods to contend with, plus no back pain from the extra raking.

All material is available for self pick-up where we will load your truck or trailer. Or if you prefer, we can deliver. Our dump truck can haul up to 4 tons. For retail orders of 8 tons or more, volume discount pricing is available.

What is  Compost

A mixture of different organic ingredients blended together and processed into a rich, organic compost. Use in your flower gardens, vegetable gardens, yards, trees and bushes. Adds organic matter and loosens tight soil.

  • Compost loosens tight soils
  • Compost adds organic matter to the soil
  • Compost is an organic soil amendment. There are no harsh chemicals
  • Compost is environmentally friendly

No matter what soil type, growing conditions, or what you’re growing, compost improves your soil and helps make your garden healthier.

How to use Compost

New Lawns

Apply Organic Compost at approximately 1 Cubic yard per 300 square feet at 1″ deep. Rake or till into existing soil. Broadcast seed on surface, roll, then water often until grass reaches 2 inches.

New Gardens

Apply Organic Compost at approximately 1 Cubic yard per 150 square feet at 2″ deep. Till to a depth of about 6″-8″

Established Gardens

Apply Organic Compost to a depth of about 2″ and rake or hoe into the soil, if possible.

Planting Trees & Shrubs

Dig a hole 1/3 wider and 1/3 deeper than the root ball. Mix one part Organic Compost to one or two parts loosened soil. Backfill hole to allow top to root to rest at ground level. Firm down soil and fill remainder of hole, being careful to pack tightly to prevent air pockets. Form a slight basin to catch rain water for the young roots. Water thoroughly.

Potted Plants

Carefully remove plant from old container, disturbing roots as little as possible. Put Organic Compost in the bottom of the container, pressing firmly to prevent air pockets. Water thoroughly.
